Reviewed October 3, 2026. This page now covers the 2027 DOST-SEI undergraduate scholarship cycle. Its original URL is retained so existing bookmarks continue to work.

Current application and examination dates

The official 2027 undergraduate scholarship page lists registration from August 17 to September 17, 2026, completion for registered applicants by September 24, and the qualifying examination on November 14–15, 2026. The registration and completion dates have passed as of this review.

Registered applicants should use their official application account for status and test-permit instructions. The portal says permits will be available for download in October 2026. Check the official page for changes; this article cannot extend a deadline or confirm individual eligibility.

Which scholarship route fits your situation?

The DOST-SEI application FAQs explain the undergraduate route for graduating Grade 12 students and eligible senior-high graduates who have not enrolled in college. STEM students and non-STEM applicants have different academic eligibility conditions. Confirm these, the priority course, and the institution in the current official instructions.

If you are already in college, do not assume the undergraduate application accepts you. Investigate the separate Junior Level Science Scholarship route and its own cycle. Its requirements and dates are separate.

Application records to keep

Save a private copy of the forms you submitted, the final uploaded files, and any confirmation. Keep your application identifier and login details private. Use a checklist to distinguish “file prepared,” “uploaded,” and “submission confirmed”; those are different stages.

When something is unclear, first check the official FAQ. If it is not answered, use the DOST-SEI helpdesk and explain the issue with the relevant module. Do not publish personal documents in comment threads or send them to an unofficial reviewer.

A practical four-week study plan

The following is a suggested preparation schedule, not an official exam syllabus. Adapt it to the topics in current DOST materials and your school’s lessons.

  1. Week 1 — diagnose: solve a short mixed set without notes. Record errors by topic rather than by score alone.
  2. Week 2 — repair: revisit weak concepts, work through one example, then solve a new problem without looking at the solution.
  3. Week 3 — mix: alternate familiar and unfamiliar problems. Explain why each formula applies and check units.
  4. Week 4 — rehearse: practise with a timer, review recurring errors, and confirm your official test-day instructions. Keep the final days manageable.

Practice problem: rates and units

A pump transfers 18 litres in 45 seconds. At the same rate, how much does it transfer in two minutes?

Solution: the rate is 18 ÷ 45 = 0.4 litres per second. Two minutes is 120 seconds, so the volume is 0.4 × 120 = 48 litres. Multiplying by 2 without converting minutes to seconds would mix units.

Practice problem: interpreting experimental results

Two identical plants receive the same water and soil. One receives six hours of light daily and the other receives two. After two weeks, the first has grown more. Which variable was deliberately changed?

Answer: daily light exposure. Growth is the measured outcome. The setup helps isolate light, but a single pair of plants does not establish a general result; replication and other controlled conditions matter.

These are original practice examples, not copied DOST examination questions and not a prediction of the test.

Benefits and obligations: check the actual award

Read the current official scholarship materials and, if offered an award, the agreement before accepting it. Verify covered expenses, payment arrangements, academic retention rules, and service obligations. Do not budget around an old article’s monthly allowance or assume every scholar receives the same total.

Before examination day

  • Read the instructions on your test permit and confirm your assigned venue and session.
  • Prepare the identification, supplies, and documents specified there.
  • Plan the journey and allow time for venue procedures.
  • Use official notices for results and next steps; avoid treating unofficial lists as confirmation.

Frequently asked questions

Can I still register for the 2027 undergraduate cycle?

The published registration deadline was September 17, 2026. Check the official portal for any subsequent announcement; this guide does not claim an extension.

Is a paid review centre required?

This preparation plan uses school lessons, an error log, and original practice problems. A paid service cannot guarantee qualification.
